A Trip to the Moon (French: "Le Voyage dans la Lune") is a 1902 French black-and-white silent science fiction film. It parodies two popular novels of the time: From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne and The First Men in the Moon by H. G. Wells, painting their readers as lunatics.
Plot[]
A group of men travel to the moon by being shot in an iron capsule from a giant cannon. They are captured by moon-men, escape, and return to the earth.
Steampunk Influences[]
Despite the age of the original, and eventual film under discussion, A Trip to the Moon encompasses the essence of steampunk: Victorian Era values, extrapolation of contemporary technology, true science fiction and thought-provoking, inspirational storytelling with a valuable lesson on humanity to be learned. wassup
