Hellboy is a comic with many steampunk influences. It has spawned two films, one in 2004 and a sequel in 2008. The series' eponymous character, Hellboy, is a demon brought to Earth as an infant by Nazi occultists, but is found and raised by the Allied Forces and now fights on the side of good.
Hellboy was adapted into a feature film in 2004 and was directed by Guillermo del Toro; it was based on the first Hellboy comic, Seed of Destruction. A sequel was released in 2008.
Plot[]
In the closing stages of WWII the Nazis were desperately attempting any method of breaking the Allies, even down to mystical ceremonies which had no apparent effects...except to bring forth a demonic boy and place him straight into the arms of the waiting Allied forces. Fast forward fifty years, and although still called Hellboy, the boy is now a man and works for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. He is, however, not the only legacy creature from that time...the nazis have survived and, in resurfacing, are looking to bring armageddon to the Earth....
