David L. Drake and Katherine L. Morse are the award-winning, San Diego-based authors of “The Adventures of Drake and McTrowell – Perils in a Postulated Past,” a serialized steampunk tale detailing the adventures of Chief Inspector Erasmus Drake and Dr. "Sparky" McTrowell. The duo’s many adventures are provided in weekly penny dreadful-style episodes on the web (www.DrakeAndMcTrowell.com).  They have produced four novels since 2010: “London, Where it All Began,” “The Bavarian Airship Regatta,” “Her Majesty’s Eyes and Ears,” and “The Hawaiian Triple Cross.”

They also regularly contribute to anthologies including the “Time Later” series from Thinking Ink Press, “The Clockwork Oracle” and “Next Stop on the #13.” Drake is becoming known for his engaging cover art for independent steampunk books, teaming with Morse’s editing and formatting skills. Drake and Morse won a Starburner Award for the radio show based on their first story that has run multiple times on Krypton Radio.

They can be seen cosplaying their steampunk alter egos all over the West and occasionally elsewhere including internationally.

They're best known for their interactive literary offerings, engaging the audience in creative literary activities in the guise of shenanigans.

In Hot Potato School of Writing , Drake and McTrowell lead two guest authors and the audience in a madcap improvisational writing game show reminiscent of their signature "Hot Potato" team writing style. Two audience volunteers team up with two guest authors to form two "writing teams." The audience selects plot elements from a provided list and the teams take turns "writing" the story, incorporating the plot points and audience-generated "Hot Potatoes" thrown in for excitement.

In Theatre of the Historically Improbable™, Drake & McTrowell present for your participatory amusement and public shenanigans, short skits replete with two-bit humor, dubious science, and historical improbability; and readings from their books brought to life by audience members with, no joke, sock puppets.

In There Once Was a Steampunk from Limerick™, Drake & McTrowell provide a brief, humorous history of this poetic form and lead the audience in a friendly exercise of writing their own steampunk verses.
